Per CCR 249.3, this job control may be used to fill subsequent vacancies.

Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the Analyst II serves as a member of the OGA team. The Analyst II performs ongoing activities on an annual, biannual, weekly, or daily basis in support of OGA’s responsibilities and to maintain the integrity of grant funds. The position requires the incumbent to effectively establish and sustain satisfactory working relationships with individuals both inside and outside state government; analyze data, develop conclusions, and present findings in clear and concise written and verbal form to appropriate staff and stakeholders; effectively utilize electronic data equipment to prepare reports and analyze data using Microsoft software applications such as Word, Excel and Power Point; communicate clear and concise responses in person, by telephone, electronic mail, and/or in writing to management, OGA staff, Financial Services Branch staff, and the public concerning various issues; and support Farmer Equity Outreach and Liaison Activities by engaging with stakeholders, assisting limited resource, socially disadvantaged farmers, and beginning farmers and contributing to equity focused program improvements.

This CDFA work location is near restaurants, coffee shops, and a farmer’s market. We are within walking distance of light rail/public transportation, across the street from beautiful Capitol Park, and two miles from Downtown Commons (DOCO).

Working Conditions

The duties of this job are performed indoors up to 70% of the time. The remaining 30% involve traveling to a variety of locations within California to conduct onsite performance/compliance site visits, attend training, workshops, or meetings on behalf of OGA. Travel requires use of common carriers (airplanes, trains, etc.) and automobiles. The employee’s workstation is located inside the OGA office and is equipped with standard office equipment. The employee’s workplace is 1220 N Street, Room 120 Sacramento, CA 95814.

This position may/may not be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the CDFA and based on the current telework policy. While the CDFA supports telework where possible, in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises, as determined by the Department.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Familiarity with state and federal grant processes; strong customer service skills, including public speaking and presenting, as well as preparing scripts, agendas, and resources for presentations; and proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to meet strict deadlines, adapt to shifting priorities, and collaborate effectively as part of a team. Experience engaging with diverse stakeholders and an interest in supporting farmer equity efforts and have basic analytical skills to support various federal and state grant programs.
