The French Language and Humanities Teacher serves as both a classroom teacher and an academic mentor for French-speaking international students. This educator teaches courses in French, English, and History/Humanities while providing tutoring, language support, and academic coaching to help multilingual students achieve success across all subject areas.
Working collaboratively with the Academic Advisor, Registrar, classroom teachers, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and administration, this teacher plays an essential role in helping international students thrive academically and become fully integrated members of the Brave Christian High School community.
Teach high school French courses.
Teach English courses that support multilingual learners and college readiness.
Teach History and other Humanities courses as assigned.
Design engaging, standards-based lessons that encourage critical thinking, communication, and academic excellence.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying levels of English proficiency.
Assess student learning and provide timely, meaningful feedback.
Maintain a positive, Christ-centered classroom culture that promotes curiosity, respect, and personal responsibility.
Serve as the primary academic support teacher for French-speaking international students.
Provide academic clarification and instruction in both French and English as appropriate.
Tutor students individually and in small groups before, during, or after school.
Support students with writing, reading comprehension, organization, study skills, and test preparation.
Assist students in developing the English language skills necessary for success in a rigorous college-preparatory environment.
Monitor student progress and intervene proactively when additional support is needed.
Partner with the Academic Advisor/College Counselor to monitor student success and graduation progress.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop strategies that support multilingual learners.
Work closely with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Support Services to provide appropriate academic interventions.
Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, host families, and international partners regarding student progress.
Assist with the orientation and transition of new international students into the Brave Christian community.
Build meaningful relationships that foster students' academic, social, and spiritual growth.
Encourage students to discover and pursue their God-given purpose.
Participate in chapel services, faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and student activities.
Serve as a positive Christian role model who reflects the mission and values of Brave Christian Schools.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
California teaching credential (or ability to obtain one).
Fluency in both French and English (spoken and written).
Experience teaching or tutoring secondary students.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated Christian faith consistent with the mission and Statement of Faith of Brave Christian Schools.
Master's degree.
Experience teaching high school English, History, Humanities, or World Languages.
Experience working with multilingual learners or English Language Development (ELD).
Experience supporting international students in a college-preparatory environment.
Knowledge of college admissions expectations and academic advising is beneficial.
